Program Petrol Percuma

Yayasan Pengguna Negara Malaysia (YPNM), Cawangan Wilayah Sarawak is an NGO which aims and helps to protect the rights of consumers in all aspects. Apart from that, we also actively in providing charitable contributions to the needies. Thus, we have introduced YPNM “PROGRAM PETROL PERCUMA”, a targeted approach aiming to ease the daily expenses of households in Sarawak by providing a blanket subsidy to motorcyclists from B40 (bottom 40% income group).

Our “PPP” objective is to reduce the burden of those needies. According to the eKasih database, Sarawak had 57,281 “poor” families and 39,858 “hardcore poor” households. These households encounter a number of difficulties and they do not have enough money to cope with the increasing living costs due to inflation with their current incomes. With Sarawak still lacking in accessibility to public transportation, many of those B40 households resort to motorcycles as their choice of transportation when commuting to work on a daily basis. However, the price hike of petrol since February 2021 has affected the livelihood of many.

The Federal Government through Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living together with the collaboration of the State Government has implemented an initiative called Payung Rahmah which comprises of Bakul Rahmah, Menu Rahmah, Jualan Rahmah and etc to ease the rakyat’s burden especially in dealing with the cost of living.

We, YPNM Sarawak, believe that that what matters is not how much we offer, but how much love we put into it. By collaborating with local AhliAhli Dewan Undangan Negeri, KPDN Sarawak and fuel stations, we aim to provide aid of a FREE RM5.00 Petrol Voucher to each underprivileged motorcyclist. As of today, we have provided 200 YPNM “PPP” Vouchers for the community to purchase petrol at Petronas Green Height. We, YPNM Sarawak, pledge that this will not be the first and last event to be held and we strive to our very best to reach out to the community at all level. With this effort, We, YPNM Sarawak hope that many gig workers will step forward, easing their burden while providing for their families.

It is our greatest privilege to have YB Wilfred Yap Yau Sin, ADUN N.12 Kota Sentosa, who is our Honorary Advisor, fully sponsor and support our today’s event.
