YPNM Sarawak Courtesy Visit to Deputy Premier of Sarawak

Yayasan Pengguna Negara Malaysia (YPNM), Wilayah Sarawak’s Branch had on 6th July, 2023 paid a “Courtesy Call” to YB Dato Sri Professor Dr. Sim Kui Hian, Deputy Premier of Sarawak cum Minister for Public Health, Housing & Local Government whereby this delegation was led by our Sarawak Chairman Mr. Daren Ling together with Mr. Jimmy Ling (Secretary Sarawak), Kapitan Dr. Simon Hong (Chairman, YPNM Bintulu), Mr. Chong Kong Min (Chairman, YPNM Miri), Mr. Bruce Sim (Vice Chairman, YPNM Kuching), Mr. Winston Chang (Vice Chairman, YPNM Kuching), Mr. Codey Wong (Secretary, YPNM Bintulu) and Mr. Teo Wei Khiong (AJK, YPNM Kuching) with the purpose to have joint discussion in strengthening bilateral relationship between us as well as providing our fullest co-operation to the Ministry in implementing their policies.

We have a very fruitful discussion whereby we touched on several current issues especially the launching of our Bureau Community whereby our appointed YPNM Counselors would be assisting the Kapitan & Penghulu in resolving the consumer’s problems. Secondly, with the collaboration by Ministry of Public Health, Housing & Local Government and Royal Malaysia Police, YPNM Sarawak will be organizing Statewide Seminars & Activities on the Awareness of National Scam Response Centre (NSRC) 997 and “Kempen Anti-Dadah” throughout Sarawak as of recent, there have a surge in scammer’s cases and drugs abuse is at the alarming state. We believe prevention is better than cure.

Lastly, we have organized “Free Petrol Voucher” on the 30th May, 2023 to help B40 to reduce their burden and we have received a lot of positive feedbacks from the public at large. As such, we will continue this event at various places throughout Sarawak.

Hopefully, this courtesy visit will strengthen the relationship between the Ministry of Local Government and YPNM in order to protect the interest of the consumer.
